Three ways to make a signature
Draw gives the most natural result on a touchscreen or trackpad. Type turns your name into a handwriting-style signature in a few seconds. Upload works best with a photo of your signature on white paper; FileSwiftly can remove the white background so only the ink remains.
Placing and sizing
After creating the signature, click on the spot where it should go. Drag it to fine-tune the position and pull the corner handle to resize it. You can place the same signature on several pages, and add a date stamp or a typed name beside it.
Is this a legally valid signature?
In the US (ESIGN Act) and the EU (eIDAS “simple electronic signature”), an image of your signature placed on a document is generally accepted for everyday agreements such as leases, permission slips and NDAs. Some documents — wills, certain real estate or court filings — need a qualified or notarized signature. If in doubt, ask the person who requested the signature.
Your signature stays yours
The signature is drawn and embedded inside your browser. It is not stored on a server or saved for later use; when you close the tab it is gone.
Sign PDF: frequently asked questions
Does this add a certificate-based digital signature?
No. It places a visible signature image (an electronic signature). Certificate-based digital signatures are not offered yet.
Can other people sign the same PDF?
Send them the signed copy and they can add their own signature with FileSwiftly the same way.
Can I sign on a phone?
Yes. Drawing with a finger on a phone screen often gives the most natural-looking signature.
Why is my uploaded signature on a white box?
Tick “Remove white background” when uploading so that only the ink is kept.
